John A. Challenger is Chief Executive Officer of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc., the nation's first, oldest and premier outplacement consulting firm. John Challenger served on the labor/human resource committee of The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from 1999-2002. In 1998, 2001, and 2003, he delivered addresses before the World Future Society, in 2001 and 2003 he addressed the annual conference of the Ethics Officers Association and conferences of leading business executives in Japan, and he has been frequently quoted by publications such as the Wall Street Journal.
A Message from Mike...
I've heard from several people that they were really looking forward to closing the book on 2008. But the best comment I received was from a friend who sent me an e-mail with this headline: "BOYCOTT THE RECESSION." He told me that he was getting sick of all the bad news, or as Zig Zigler calls it, Stinkin' Thinkin', and the media's best efforts to make him and the rest of us depressed. He went on to explain that after looking at all the facts and considering all the angles, he determined that participating in the recession would be bad for his emotional, physical and financial well being.
So he decided that he's going to sit this recession out and be thankful for the things he has – things like good health, a great family, and the fact that he lives in a great country, the United States.
Sure, we have our flaws, and right now the word of the day is "bailout. But why not "bailout" from all this bad news and join my friend and I as we "BOYCOTT THE RECESSION."Somehow, someway, this country will get through this mess – so will you.
