In this On the Record session, Bruce covers a wide range of topics that our audience of transportation professionals will find relevant and worthwhile.
Prior to joining the league in 2008, Bruce held several senior positions within different governmental agencies. In his capacity as the CEO of the League, Bruce has a front row seat in witnessing what the Congress and governmental agencies are doing on the transportation front. Under his leadership, the League has tackled several issues that have had, or are likely to have, a significant impact on shippers in 2010.
Known as the “shipper's voice,” the NIT League is over 100 years old and represents some of the largest shippers in the country. Several years ago, the League launched its 2020 initiative and welcomed carriers into the association as full members, making it the largest association representing both the shipper and carrier community.
On November 15 - 17, the League will hold its annual educational and business meeting. This meeting, which is referred to as TransComp, provides a unique opportunity for shippers and carriers to get together in one convenient location. Speaking from personal experience, several shippers have told me that over the years they have found TransComp to be an invaluable use of time in learning about critical transportation issues and having the opportunity to spend time with their carriers.
We know budgets are tight, but we'd like to encourage you to consider attending the TransComp meeting. This year the meeting is in Anaheim and one of the important security issues that will be covered in great depth is the 10+2 program.
As always we welcome your comments about this On the Record session. If you have some ideas on how we can make these On the Record events even better, send me an e-mail - I'd love to hear from you. That's it for now. Hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.
