In this session, recorded last week, we covered a wide range of topics starting with the current economic environment and YRCW's strategy for getting through 2009. Bill was very open and forthcoming.
Some notes for our listeners: Before the interview, I made the decision that we would not discuss the (yet to be voted on) recently announced agreement with the Teamsters. While we were aware of the negotiations, we thought it best to wait until it was announced (4 days after our interview) so that everyone could see the same details.
Everything else was on the table – including YRCW's recent moves to restructure their balance sheet. As shippers brace for an uncertain 2009, it is important to note that YRCW has been proactive in responding to the significant decline in shipping volumes that has affected all carriers. As you listen to Bill describe their strategy to "follow their customers around the globe," you will have a better understanding about YRCW's acquisitions, specifically their positioning with China.
