We are honored to feature this interview with Annette M. Sandberg, Esq., Principal,TransSafe Consulting, LLC and former Administrator for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). In this important interview, Annette addresses in factual detail the threats and risks to the current trucking industry and their impact on supply chains.
Make no mistake about it, the threats to the trucking industry are significant. For example, on July 26, the FMCSA is expected to release the proposed revisions to the Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. The anti-truck groups are working to reduce the hours of allowable drive time from 11 hours to 8 hours, and the restart rules will be changed.
You will hear Annette discuss the seven attributes that will comprise the safety rating when CSA goes in to effect. CSA has been described as a game changer - Is your company familiar with these seven attributes and the implications to your organization? Does your company qualify and check 100% of your motor carrier's safety ratings that moves product intoor out of your facilities?
Under the new legislation, if even one of your carriers has a low safety rating and is involved in an accident, your company could be involved in litigation costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. There are three simple steps you can take to minimize your company's exposure to these risks.
As always, we would welcome your comments and responses.
